Eat Play Love Lusaka

As a capital city, Lusaka is still a young city compared to major cities the world over as well as on the African Continent. However, this means that there are a lot of exciting things happening that has popularised urban tourism.

Lusaka has a fast-growing culinary space, every year we see new restaurants spring up, and take our taste buds on a world tour of flavours. We have Mexican inspired flavours brought to us by Cantina, Seafood at Afrigonia and Italian style flavours at Portico. We have restaurants serving Indian and Chinese food, from JCS market where you can buy ingredients and eat at the many food stalls, to longstanding establishments like Dil and Sichaun. In more recent years the addition of Thai and Korean as well as Japanese food has catapulted the Asian food scene in Lusaka.

My favourite weekend activity is a food market, we have a lot to choose from but my two staples are Kyeya’s Food Market and the Lusaka Food Market. A day spent out in the sun, buying handmade crafts and sampling both local and international cuisines, made by culinary professionals or people who want to share a taste of their culture.

I also love living in Lusaka because there are many ways I can be in nature, view wildlife or enjoy outdoor activities a stone throws away from my home. From Chaminuka, Pioneer Camp, Sakae Paradise, Lusaka National Park to Kwisoko Game Ranch I can drive between thirty minutes to an hour and find myself quad biking, watching giraffes and other wildlife, enjoying an outdoor braai, or a wine and cheese tasting in a cave.

Our city is vibrant and has so much to offer if you are willing to explore it, from renting a local Airbnb that feels and looks like you are outside the city to a staycation at a boutique hotel. As a busy career woman, I have found that what I am seeking can be found within the city limits.
