Where to Get the Best Salads in Lusaka

Finding Summer's Freshest Salads in Lusaka

Summer is upon us, and what better way to refresh your palate and keep cool than indulging in a delicious, crisp salad? Lusaka has some top-tier places to get your salad fix. Whether you're a local or a visitor, you'll find an array of options to satisfy your cravings.

Mint Series of Restaurants

If you're on the hunt for an all-time favourite salad, the Mint Series of restaurants should be your first stop. The series boasts three prime locations - Mint Siesta, Mint At Sandys, and the original Mint Lounge at Acacia Park.

Mint Siestas is a must-visit for the Greek Orzo Bowl ( Our fav!). This dish is a medley of orzo pasta, sun-dried tomatoes, olives, and crumbled feta, dressed in a tangy vinaigrette. It's a flavour-packed bowl that promises to transport your taste buds straight to the Mediterranean. Mint Active reopens soon at Agora Village, and that chapter of Mint was also our favourite for salads before they moved.

Shardonnay Wine Bar

A new contender in Lusaka's salad scene is the Shardonnay Wine Bar. Their chicken salad is an excellent choice for those who enjoy a hearty dish without the heaviness. Paired with a glass of wine, it's the ideal summer lunch. Their crayfish salad is an exquisite blend of flavours and textures, while their watermelon salad offers a refreshing burst of summer in every bite.

Salad Box at Waterfalls Mall

If customization is what you're after, the Salad Box at Waterfalls Mall should be on your list. Here, you have the freedom to craft your salad masterpiece from the base to the dressing. Start with your choice of greens, add protein, and a variety of toppings, and finish off with a dressing that suits your palate. It's a delightful experience, especially for those who enjoy a personal touch to their meals.

The Gathering

Stepping into The Gathering is akin to embarking on a culinary adventure. Renowned for its audacious and flavorful cocktails, they are equally daring with their salads. It beckons those looking to challenge their taste buds and break away from the mundane.

Three Trees Cafe

This gem of a restaurant is just what you need when only a salad can hit the spot. An array of choices are available, delicious and generously portioned.

Eden Haus

Don't forget to check out Eden Haus. This spot has offered up some salads that have resonated with many. ( Their lush garden is also a plus we must add!)

Meraki

Even if it is a cake bar, Meraki offers some seasonal salads that are noteworthy

What Makes a Great Salad?

The anatomy of a great salad goes beyond just throwing some vegetables in a bowl. It's about balance - a harmonious blend of textures, flavours, and colours. Freshness is paramount, but so is a combination of crunchiness and softness, sweetness and tanginess. Dressings should enhance, not overpower. Whether meat or plant-based, proteins need to be thoughtfully prepared and seasoned.

It's also worth noting that while many love the cool crunch of iceberg lettuce, it's not everyone's cup of tea. For some, its water-heavy texture lacks the flavour depth of other greens like arugula, spinach, or romaine. The beauty of salads is in their versatility and the ability to cater to diverse palates.

So, next time the sun's blazing and you're yearning for something fresh and tasty, you know where to go in Lusaka.

Please Note :

While we've shed light on some favourites, it's essential to note that menus evolve and offerings can change based on seasonal availability. Before setting out on your salad escapade, it's a wise idea to check the respective restaurant's social media pages or websites. This ensures you're updated with their current offerings and any special creations they might have for the season.
